Hi all

Kaboom

are they on your mother's side or your father's side. You can't judge them because the survivors of the shoah went through some horrific things and it made people change their lifestyles either to become more Jewish or to go away from their Jewish roots and to assimilate.

I find it all very interesting
I am drawn to orthodox religion, and only recently learned that my great grandparents were German Jewish immigrants to the US.  The German part everyone knew, but a cousin, searching her roots found out they were Jews and that they hid it to avoid persecution....well I think they were a bit drastic in becoming Baptist (in Texas) of all things.  Nothing against the baptists but I am really proud of those Jewish roots!  I really am!

Norwood, I don't blame your son for preferring the challa to the matzoh.  I'm not Jewish but I do quite often visit the New York Bakery & Deli in KC and they have the most wonderful things there, one of which is the challa.   Between you and gapcohen, I am learning quite a bit about Jewish life in this modern world.
