lustorlove, being a caregiver for an Alzheimer's patient is very hard, difficult and time consuming. It is a 24/7 physically demanding job that can lead to depression and hopelessness. It takes a tole mentally, emotionally and even spiritually if the caregiver does not have some relief in the way of time off for themselves on a regular basis. Victims of AD include not only the patient, but the whole family. It is good for family members and especially caregivers to a support group and to arrange for respite care.
