AardigeAfrikaner -there is some truth in my becoming bored with those lines

of thinking, though sometimes "becoming weary" may better describe it.

The same lame contentions keep resurfacing, adhered to and defended by a frightening number of people. It is difficult to draw a line to suggest that religious institutions are directly responsible for so much misinformation but it is definitely organized religion's adherents that are proliferating it. There are so many stories and subsequently the collective perceptions derived from them, emanating from religious adherants that are decidedly unhealthy. Ultimately that is where my objections towards these people and their bastardized religions lie. They are polluting the space the rest of us live in, not only in a literal sense but figuratively, in how these lines of thought damage our collective knowledge as a species. For example; if we should all understand one thing about our species; it is the constants found in human behaviour since the beginning of our recorded history.  How is it possible for people to ignore these constants of behaviour to allow themselves to believe that so many grand conspiracies are possible?  That so many people are capable of keeping such important secrets for so long?  . . . I have more to say on this but will do it in a post.

Re: AardigeAfrikaner - Re: Simple Simon's Groupies
I thought you may find the site interesting since it plays on themes you have touched on before, like the freemasons and others "trying to take over the world" theories used as a scare tactic.  But then again you may already be sick of it and bored with that line of thinking.  Personally I'm against any dogma that is simply a tool for manipulation, which includes the blown out of proportion satanist issue you wrote about.  Satanism is a derivative of Christianity after all:  No Christianity -> no Satanism.  What I do find a bit od is that in Buddhism there is a satan like character (Mara the deceiver) who represents ignorance but I've never heard of anyone actually making a religion out of worshipping Mara.  Perhaps because Buddhism is more clear about the representational character of "deities" as personifications of human traits than Christianity.  Many forms of Christianity has more in common with idolatry (the worship of "things" or "beings") than with Spiritual awakening to a more encompassing view of reality.

AardigeAfrikaner - Re: Simple Simon's Groupies
It sounds as if you are implying I need more ammo to bash catholicism. I prefer to lay beatings on all religions equally but there is no denying what you say. Most of the attrocities perpetrated by, or associated with Christianity were inflicted by the church of Rome. But in fairness, most of these things took place prior to the time period I reference in this post.

strat - that is another thing that I find rather confusing about bible

thumpers.

History tells us that religious persecution played a big role in what motivated many of the first settlers to come here, yet today we keep hearing: "this country was founded on Christian values" . . . it is more like the first settlers were running away from "Christian values".

What? You mean "Race With The Devil" was not a documentary?
But I thought it was "based on a true story..."

All I really have to do to shut up some of the more sheep-like morons in the outer branches of my own family tree is simply point out that the reason they are here, in America, is because the church -- not Satanists, Communists, Blacks, Mexicans, or other "ists" ran them out of France in the late 1600s.

Simple Simon's Groupies
If we rewind to a couple of centuries ago, we find the real tortures, ritual burnings and mass murders of Christians amongst others by...   you know who.  Good on you for not associating with their legacy anymore.  They actually fit the satanic picture pretty well.  Burdening people with more and more sins and binding them with impossible expectations while judging others for the very acts they themselves commit.  For instance, loads of baby skeletons have been found inside walls and other structures were they expect people to come and pay for their sins.  I notice there has been some improvement in tolerance levels in the Vatican but another group who likes to be known as the only people who have a right to go to heaven has already split off.  If you want some ammo, this site has a full magazine:  Remnants of Simon the Saucerer's Cult.
