I so agree with you. The part about being tolerant of the intolerant is hard for me. Part of it is about money too. There are so many who have come into millions and millions and are as crass as can be. Once money carried with it some responsibilities of social respect for community and other individuals. Particularly if the money was a generational thing.

Even much that is worthy of respect is no longer respected. Civility and tolerance have become casualties as well; and there are those who insist that we tolerate the intolerant, all in the name of so-called 'political correctness'...

Albert Einstein said it right:  "...not until we respect ourselves, can we gain the esteem of others, or rather only then will it come of its own accord."

He was speaking about our nation (though it is true for each individual too).  We are not really willing to regard ourselves as a nation.  We are divided.  We consider ourselves according to race, politics, religion, etc., etc., and we act accordingly.

A person/a nation cannot command respect.  It will come or not as it is warrented.  If we have no repect for ourselves, we cannot give it to others either.

Re: Purple Mermaid 11
I read this response after I have printed it and saw it was not what I wanted to say. (the first line) Yes it is sounds like I am responding to your saying it is very well said.   No I am responding to your saying after all respect is everything, I should have said that. Thank you for your kind words.
