the vets are treated poorly by the country they supported and fought for

Wow - those are pretty harsh and extremely sad statistics.

so true
I think you should send this statistic to the blowhard Rush Limbough, who recently said there was no such thing as a homeless vet.  Our VA is a home to many who would be homeless; next thing to being there for many who are alcoholics.  When I first moved here, to Leavenworth, the number of VA drunks would line the curb across from the street with a row of bars.  You don't see that now -- they've all died off.  My friends who rediscovered each other after 37 years is a VN vet.  He considered taking his life, he was so unhappy.  Until he remet his lady love!!

Hi Seedlings

What a great post.

It's a shame we don't treasure our veterans for what they do for the country, regardless of which conflict they fought in.

It's comforting that your Mom's friend was thinking of making love as her time was approaching. I hope that was a sweet memory for her to take with her.

That is a terrific post.  Your mother's story is priceless, I am so sorry she is ill, I will keep her in my prayers.

Thank you for your kind comments. I pray we all begin to open our eyes because politicians can't do it and aren't doing it. Nice having you drop in today
