Re: your links are tenuous at best -

Okay, a second graph now shows. And now that it does, you may have a problem. Your beloved "hockey schtick" shows Co2 going straight up. But temperature doesn't appear to follow it. Unless my eyes are fooling me, the temperature mean is slightly down at the end.

The other chart doesn't have a legend, but I take it that the blue line is the mean temperature. If a spike in Co2 is taking the temperature with it, then why did the mean temperature decline so much in the 1940s and again in the early 1960s? Do you have data affirming that Co2 emmisisons dropped concurrently?

Re: your links are tenuous at best -

Actually, what you need are graphics that will display properly. Only one of your graphs did - the dread Hockey Schtick, which I took care of way back at   http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/WriterofLight9282/486060 and http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/WriterofLight9282/497607.

Let's talk about taking chances. The science of climate change viz a viz Co2 is clearly in dispute. You're all in favor of drastic actions in case those who say it is because of Co2 (and not because of the sun) are right.

So what have you done? Have you eliminated your Co2 emissions? Do you drive? Do you breathe? Both action produce Co2, and by doing either you are contributing to "global warming."

Let's go a step further. You are aware, are you not, that if you are driving you run the risk of an accident? That by something entirely innocuous you could gravely injure or kill somebody? It may well not even be your fault. A child could run in front of your car, God forbid, and you would never see him or her until too late. Or you may have a fatal one-car accident involving only you.

The chance is there. Xenox. I fear for your safety, and those who might die because of something involving your driving. Are you going to swear off driving on the chance it might happen on the basis of my fears about it, just like you demand everyone else alter their behavior on the basis of your fears about "global warming"?

That is the point of my objections to this whole "global warming" hype. I refuse to be shamed, cowed, bullied and manipulated on the basis of other people trying to control my life with their fears.

your links are tenuous at best -
while you attack Gore, the facts do stand out -- all I need is a couple graphs:

Figure 1. This graph shows fluctuations in temperature and in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide over the past 400,000 years as inferred from Antarctic ice-core records. Temperature and carbon dioxide concentrations vary roughly in tandem over the period, with corresponding peaks and troughs. At the end of the period there is a very sharp increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, representing the rapid increase over the past two centuries.

It's the last one that says it all -- the correlation between CO2 and temperature is rather obvious here, from ice cores that extend back 400,000 years -- and you will notice at the end that CO2 levels rise out of sight virtually.  Obvious also in the graph is that the recent warming does seem to fit the pattern over the last 400,00 years -- except that it remains high instead of peaking and then declining.  With the correlation between CO2 and temperature, as demonstrated here, what might be the result of the drastic increase of CO2 in the past several years?  The temperature has NOT gone down as it has in the past -- that would seem to be an indication of a problem caused by this increase.  What is next?  That is the question we need to ask -- and, as I have asked about a dozen times before here (and you haven't answered it) and in my own postings on the subject, DO WE WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE THAT IT'S NOT MAN MADE -- DO WE WANT TO CONTINUE BUSINESS AS USUAL?

That is the question to be answered.  Well . . . .  ?

Thanks for the links.
They were worth the time it took to read them. I must admit some minor confusion though - I mean good old AL being a politician and all - well he wouldn't just outright lie would he?  8)

Re: ODD -- GLOBAL WARMING IS A FACT -- AND I HAVE SHOWN SO

"Gore has nothing to do with the facts" - INDEED! Very well stated!   I couldn't have put it better myself. Xenox, maybe you ought to go into speechwriting for Obama; you undercut yourself just as effectively as he does.

Beyond that, I'm not going to rehash months and months of postings with you. We agree the climate is changing. We disagree on why. You say it's because of greenhouse gasses. I say it's because of that strange bright light in the sky called the sun. You base your belief on faulty science. I base mine on sound climatology.

Here, you want refutations of The GORE? Here's the results of a search I ran:

http://search.peoplepc.com/search?area=earthlink-peoplepc-wssynd&cgid=176&memberID=1126800&segmentID=-1,-2,-3,4&category=peoplepal&logosrc=http://home.peoplepc.com/i/common/ppco_blue.gif&q=refuting+an+inconvenient+truth.

Knock yourself out. It contains links to refutations and rebuttals on both sides. Let me know when you've conclusively proven all the refutatons of The GORE to be wrong.

ODD -- GLOBAL WARMING IS A FACT -- AND I HAVE SHOWN SO
And yet you are denying it here.

I have the facts and figures -- you just have empty rhetoric.

Show me facts and figures.

So far, anytime you have put out what purports to be facts, all I have to do is refer to the NOAA WEBSITE I HAVE BEEN REFERRING TO FOR MY INFORMATION -- AND YOUR SUPPOSED "FACTS" JUST FLY OUT THE WINDOW.

Gore has nothing to do with the facts -- he is just presenting the facts -- information he has  presented from other sources.

Odd how you try to discredit Mr. Gore and yet cannot refute the information he presents.

What I wouldn't give to have THIS published on the FOX News
website.  Profoundly interesting and enlightening.  Gore is a glaring example of someone who believes their own press.  I would not normally read an article about Gore but you had me from hello.  By the way,  I've noticed the absence lately of "Nobel Peace Prize winner" (I think I said pulitzer in another comment), being attributed to Gore ... maybe the ridiculous mistake has finally been discovered?
