Selection criteria
The featured blogs are randomly selected from the most popular blogs, and there are a number of additional criteria that influence the selection order. Please note that the automated system for selecting featured blogs is likely to change in the future.
For instance, the blogs are selected based on their overall ranking, not by their ranking within a category, so even if your blog is popular within a category, it may not be featured.
Also, recently updated blogs are much more likely to be selected. If you have a popular blog that is not being featured, it may not have been updated recently.
We appreciate the feedback, and we are continuing to refine the system. For example, we may make the selection more random, perhaps by including a greater number of blogs or by modifying the calculation used.
