Thanks for your fedback. I read your posts and had a good laugh about the hammer story. It's happened to me many times that people don't get my pronunciation unless you say it in context or in their accent (like my "babaroni bizza" story in the UAE).

I love language
When we studied Vietnamese, one of the students insisted on mispronouncing a certain phrase. The instructor, Ba (Mrs.) Hong (Rose) said patiently, "Ong (Mr.) Phetton (Preston), it is said 'Khong sau' (Komb saow), not 'Khong sau' (komb sew). Komb saow means 'It doesn't matter', Komb sew means 'no sweat.'"
Of course, he knew what he'd been saying all the time. :)
