This makes me appreciate even more that I love in a little town....where believe it or not....none of this EVER happens. But even then.....you can't ignore the fact...that every moment you're safe....someone else is in trouble and pain.

I love the premise and the picture your words paint ...
... I count my blessings that, by the grace of God, hard work, and people in my life who cared (or so I thought), I've never had to experience the concrete jungle you describe.  Great writing, thank you!
