Welcome to Blogit, poetiflo. Although I agree that justice must be served,
I do not agree with free-flow border. It's irresponsible and dangerous. In a world without criminals and terrorists and thieves and gangs and... you get the point. It is a shame that hard-working individuals are getting caught up in legal problems, detentions, and deportations, but the bottom line is this: when you break a law (entering the country illegally or overstay your visa), you have entered a life contrary to the current laws. It doesn't matter what one thinks about the injustice or how good a person the guy that was arrested was or is. What matters is that in a nation of laws, the laws must be upheld. Sometimes they're not fair. Sometimes they're punitive. Sometimes they can be cruel. But they are there for a reason: to protect the society for which they were instituted. What seems to be necessary here is a revamping of the immigration system. But until that happens, people in other nations illegally are breaking a law by being there.
