My first reply to this was frozen. Tracking cookies were used to do that! Got 'em! Desire and Passion are powerful influences of the dark side within, to initiate consumption or sex. These do not belong to soul and deceives soul because its like a rock thrown at you! Soul has its own refined methodology for dealing with the external world. Conscious Assessment and decisionmaking takes care of its material needs. Sex is performed because of love for partner. Considerations of fidelity and non-fornication come into play. The net result of personal control of life, leaving no room for the dark side to enter, preserves and extends the happiness the soul already bathes in. The happiness comes from within and is shared. It is not generated by the satisfaction of a desire or passion felt within, but satisfied from an external doing. An elimination of desire and passion also eliminates the stimulation of these by the society. Right now, society is trying to stimulate passion in me, but are failing. No manipulation like that can be successful. The ancients looked at desire and passion as if they were soul qualities. They're not. Attachment is not a soul quality either. The source of these is the dark side. It has to go! Soul controlling its own body is not living 'nothingness'. The dark side will feel a sense of loss if its powerful influences are going to be curtailed. Soul life has to be lived to be understood. Most people in the west don't have a clue because dark side living is promoted. The accent given by the ruling elites and programmed in so many ways, is material-centered not soul-centered! I am answering what I think you asked! If there's more, let me know!

all desire is bad!
All passion is bad?
All external connections are bad? If so, you are on shaky theological and philosophical ground! You're premise of
nothingness is very Bhuddist...and that's okay...just not for me! You know, I highly respect you for your intellectual honesty(rare) as well as your intellectual powers! So, don't be angry at me if we occasionally disagree! Strong-willed, independent thinkers, such as us, will occasionally see things differently, but, that doesn't diminish my respect...it enhances it. I enjoy the challenge of your thoughts! Keep posting!

Thank you and a Happy Easter Sunday! Sorry if I slipped into my LECTURER mode there! It happens because I get concentrated in explanation. You will notice that I stick to the point a lot of the time on blogit and spend little time on small talk and making friends. Its as it should be on a writing blogsite. Basic etiquette and no real extraneous chat helps me stay focused too! Like you, I have seen and battled with these dark forces. I still do, to survive!

There is only one soul in the body that belongs to it. Another force in there, is an invasion especially if it acts to hijack the behavior. Soul has its own behavior whether that means dwelling within or external relating. This is done righteously and in its best interests. The dark side invades and replaces this lifestyle with externalizing only, using tricks and deceptions to overpower or fool the soul into acquiescence. It follows ads, peers, its dark friends outside, in addition to the desire to use that body to enjoy materials. Remove the dark side and the situation normalizes. Zukav, I haven't read! But if some of your ideas here belong to him, he is recommending tolerance of the dark side. That would be a mistake. No dark side is going to have my body until I'm dead! No coup is going to take place in here. I destroyed a Bronx demon for trying that and it will be the same for any triers. This is my god-given body.

I have found that looking at work in retail I found these "dark" players and the like. I have also found the ones that think like me and we tend to watch out for each other. You have opened my eyes to interesting world of retail "cancer" that I seem to work with. Keep up the great work!

...self-oblivion? Nirvana? I don't view all inner-workings and emotions as intrinsically evil. It's the purpose to which they're put, that determines the "evil" or "goodness" thereof. I don't think we serve God's purpose by annihilating our inner selves. God speaks to humanity through both the inner and outer self. It's "intention" that is good or evil. Gary Zukav's book that I mentioned before, deals extensively with the role of
intention in everything. Great, thought provoking post, as always. Your thoughts are deep and well thought out!

Thanks for the interest! If you were the target of evil as I have been, you wouldn't pooh the idea! The 'rock' they throw at you is powerful enough to kill! Ego is the measuring vis a vis other people that the dark side does. Soul has no natural penchant like this! Id and ego and super-ego comes from psychological speculation not fact! Ego is accepted in common usage so I use it! The dark side has life only in the external, mostly in tune with programming. The soul dwells within itself, going outside only to perform its duties, with concentration. There is a difference in the external doings! An empty alert consciousness is best. With self control, the darkness becomes less invasive! Alertness is needed to monitor internal changes that could mean a trespass! There is more to come and answers, hopefully! Thanks!

Soul Builder, I read your discussion here and thought a bit on what you write of
the soul : "It is in an ocean of worth and joy which is ever new and spontaneous. It replaces willy nilly material seeking with opportunities for edification whether it is reading, music, health or other constructive endeavour. " and that just stopped me for a bit, because I believe that the soul is so powerful in its expression that I just pooh the idea of 'darkness' being able to pervade - to invade - to persist in the light a soul carries...
and as I read on: The dark side seeks worth, esteem, legitimacy and validation from its external seeking. This is called the ego --- oh dear, so EGO is not part of our soul? not part of our Id... oh dear... (I'll have to consider this belief)
and now since you write:Since the dark side is externally oriented --- good then...I find that I will just keep resisting the Dark - by turning on my internal and external 'light' from my soul and my heart and my whole Id, because it's an innate person of me -- a natural order in me...I don't know, but, I do know - that I'm happy to think the dark is 'external'.
Be alert to the dark side tricks: the blood-boiling anger racing up your head, that sexual passion that assaults body and head, that strong feeling of hunger and thirst (of different kinds), the pestering in the head to get, consume or do. The tricks are many,
