Re: Fine Young Singer
Justi, thank you so much.  Addiction is a horrible disease that is so grossly misunderstood, even in this day and age.

Fine Young Singer
God bless you dear one. What a sad thing for all of you and especially the children. I doubt she knew what she was doing in the sense that one not drugged up would know. It is like your husband said: It is satan looking at you through their eyes sometimes. Too many drugs, too much giving in to the force of evil. May God bless all of you.

Re: FYS,
Sira, thanks for reading, dearest, and for the truly humbling comment you've left here.  We struggle, but we are determined to heal, and this has not torn us apart.  The composure and grace comes from clinging to my faith- He was with us through it, I have no doubt.

FYS,

This was such a brave and heartfelt account of the events, I'm speechless, humbled, and terribly sad for all of you.

But you're right--the "why" isn't important anymore, and the "what-if's" will only drive you mad. Of course, we already knew you were an amazing person, so it does not come as a surprise that you would handle death with the same level of composure and grace, and be courageous enough (and wise enough) to ask for her forgiveness.

God bless you, and your family

Re: I'm so sorry for this unspeakable tragedy...
Hi cheugon, thanks for reading!  Drugs are certainly a nightmare.  And I also love Sheen.  He had a gift for explaining faith without watering it down or making the Church sound militant.  I'm glad they're rerunning him on EWTN.

Re: FYS
Azur, thanks for the kind words...It's been a year and a half, and it's as vivid as ever to everyone.  Same with my cousin--15 years ago my cousin Dom took his own life, and we're still not over it.

I'm so sorry for this unspeakable tragedy...
...that has taken your family. My only was brother was shot to death as a result of drugs and I escaped the clutches of drugs myself....by the grace of God! You have my deepest sympathies. On a lighter note...I adore J. Fulton Sheen. I occasionaly watch him on EWTN. Reruns of course....since he's no longer with us. Take care~Charles

FYS
Sometimes it is not the lack but the absence of wisdom that allows terrible things to happen. I have to say I admire you and yours for speaking of it and for allowing yourselves to grow with the insights that come your way.

Re: FYS, this is horrible..you know, though, one never knows when...
Hi ash, In this case, we all have had to put our trust in the Lord.  None of us believes that the Lord caused this at all.  I explain this tragedy that my sister-in-law did not treasure her life or anyone elses for that matter.  Whether it was her sickness that caused it or something else, the secret to coming through a tragedy like this (I have discovered first-hand) is not to look for answers as to why she did it; but to focus on how do I go on in spite of it.  Thanks for your kindness my dearest friend!

Re:
hi sam, thanks for reading and for the prayer.  They both were very ill.  I may blog about the rest of the family one day, how they reacted and are still reacting.

FYS, this is horrible..you know, though, one never knows when...
He decides someone will be better off starting a new life than be caught in a trap that may not be entirely their doing..forgive yourself & others and trust in the Lord that He knows what He is doing..how else can we explain so many tragedies..may their souls rest in peace !Ash

A most difficult situation. It appears she was quite ill. I am so very sorry for your loss. It never makes sense to me when others take innocent people with them. I think the forgiveness begins your own healing. I shall put your and your loved ones in my prayers.  sam

Re: Whoa, that was so intense ... Ariala, thanks for the kind words.

It is with us daily--as you know well, too, grief fades slowly.

We talk about this a lot.  Forgiveness is hard, but it’s far easier when you realize that people really don’t know what they are doing.  For most of us, that realization comes after years of pain and suffering from the loss...and Christ from the cross, in the midst of it?  It’s these kinds of revelations that deepen my awe for our Lord, and make it possible for me to forgive Cathy.

Whoa, that was so intense and heart-wrenching...I can't imagine what your
whole family went through.  The woman was obviously tortured in soul and spirit...My heart goes out to you and your family as I'm sure this is with you daily.
