I don't even know what to say
So I'm just going to sit here, and shake my head in disgust.

Good idea, although the risk reduced in one point (the sign) would heighten the overall risk. As you might imagine, a person repeatedly running into the same sign isn't exactly a benchmark for dexterity

I'm a lucky one I suppose, because I also don't get the texting thing. It takes me ages to find the letters and my thumb has grwon nearly twice its size once I have finished a three word text. So, I guess, thumb, cheek, nose and skull will remain undamaged for some time to come.

Re: I have to admit
Well, look at that, hagi! I found someone who actually did what I used to do - read a book while walking! I got out of the habit, but used to do it regularly! I still read when I'm on my damn elliptical machine, working out - the only way I can stand the boredom! As far as that sign is concerned - have you considered wearing high heels?

Text messaging while riding a bike, KaBoom? Hell, I'm a pretty experienced cyclist, but I wouldn't dare! It's completely idiotic...

I have to admit

I have run into things like lampposts or, more often, people. For a while, I had a bad habit of reading books while walking (because just walking seemed sooooo boring), I dropped it because it became too hazardous. Now I run into things just because I'm daydreaming.

Well yea, and there's this damn sign I often run into. It's designed so that normal people would notice and avoid it, but I'm 157 cm's short so it's right above my line of sight and yet low enough to collide with my forehead. Ouch.

It isn't just kids!!
Now, when I ride by a kid text messaging while peddling a bicycle, (I kid you not!), I say, 'I suggest you put that thing away'  I whizz by so there is no danger to me, even if the kid is bigger 'n me, but I ran across and adult doing the same thing, and I just didn't know WHAT to say!!  I'm with Whiley, let them get their own pads!!

Next up they'll be needing their wn roads to drive on so they don't get hurt when they run into other cars while they text. Silliness has one the game in England lately me thinks.

Whoa! Someone isn't thinking.....they better leave those posts alone....if they start messing with them, they are taking responsibility for keeping them wrapped perfectly, and for any claim any idiot who walks into them and gets hurt makes from here on out...they are admitting that they are a hazard and that they need to do something about them.....it's already bad enough that we're all going to be paying the increased premium for the carpal tunnel for all these texting fools.....okay, shove my soap box back in under the sofa....I'm off and running.......I really am starting to wish some alien ship would zoom down and take me off to a nice planet with no technology.....I HATE FRIGGIN' CELL PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (okay, i feel better)

That's crazy about padding the lamposts!
When I first visited Britain...about 10 years ago...I was shocked at the number of people on cellphones..and they were much bigger then!  They seem to love their technology!  (I can slag them off a bit..I'm married to one!...a Brit that is not a cellphone!)
