FineYoungSinger - Re: There are a lot of hiders out there,
We've seen that here on Blogit. Those most willing to condemn and judge others are usually the biggest hypocrites.

sam444- I look at the recent list of presidential nomination hopefuls
Before they reduced the list to the front runners, there were about 30 hopefuls with each and every one claiming to be a good Christian. It is possible that they all were but real demographics tell us that out of 30 people, there is a much greater possibility of a more eclectic mix of beliefs and non beliefs. It's a good thing that politicians never lie?

Ariala - same here but it was necessary for me to fake it for most of my
adult life.
Depending of course on who I was speaking to. Business associates or any situation where advancement could be impeded by admission of non belief had to be considered. There was also a time when I humored family and in-laws but once reaching a certain level of economic security, I became tired of the charade.
Ever wonder why Bill Gates has never come right out and said that he is an atheist?

There are a lot of hiders out there,
using religion for all the wrong reasons, and I believe that the harder you try to convince others that you've got all the answers, the more you are truly lacking in faith. I know this from experience--I've been guilty of it and have been a victim of it. It's lip service for a selfish end.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to pretend to be a believer...it is a lot of
trouble to be one in the first place, just as atheists feel it is a lot of trouble for them to not be one. But I can see being "pressured" to pretend just to fit in with family...I was always too rebellious to pretend to believe anything that I actually didn't believe. Caused me a lot of problems growing up, especially.
