Sira
It's nice to see your parents excitement refelected in your own words! I'm sure they're going to have a great time! And your Dad should definitely go for the Viper - I know I would...

Re: It's been so long since there was sun in this midwestern

Pat,

I've stuck a bit of Alberta Sunshine in an envelope, and sent it your way! Hopefully it will be enough to tide you over until spring finally reaches you!

Thanks for the reminder--I was still stuck on the dirty diaper issue, and hadn't even made it to the surly teenage years!

Re: Sira890

Wiley,

My parent's are 2 of my best friends--our relationship has changed in the past few years, as I've gotten married, and become more of an equal than a child. But we're still very close, and hopefully always will be.

Having kids is something that I was never going to do. But, as I'm getting older, and growing more as a person, I'm starting to realize the value of having a family. Either way, it will certainly be something I do on my own terms.

I think it's really amazing that you overcame all of that, and have built a life of love and happiness. I quit drinking at age 18--as soon as I was legally allowed to buy booze, ironically enough. And like you, I caught a lot of flack for making the decision. But it's my liver, and my decision--if people couldn't respect me enough to accept it, then they weren't the people I wanted to have in my life.

Cheers to you and Kabu--thanks for reading, and for the lovely comments

Re: That's fun for them Sira!

It's funny ginnie, to hear you say that. My mother was in her early 30's when she had her first kid (that would be me!), and she always used to say the same thing--wait until your older.

But I think now, she figures she's creeping up on the "granny years", and she doesn't want to wait until she's really old to start enjoying the little ones.

Thanks for reading

It's been so long since there was sun in this midwestern
area, and every flash of it revealed frozen snow. I've almost forgotten what to do on a warm, sunny day. I hope they enjoy the whole vacation.  As for offspring, babies are cute, but they do grow up to become teenagers.  Just thought I'd mention that. :)

Sira890

It is really a joy for me to read of a loving daughter so concerned and caring about her parents luv. Have the babies when you want and remember, you also have the option of NOT having any if that be your choice.

I discovered at age 31 to be exact,  that always trying to do what others thought I should do was a lose lose situation.

The first thing I made a decision about for myself in this life, was to quit drinking alcohol, in an Irish background family that was tough to do because it was not accepted by my parents and siblings.

So live your life with your mind luv.

That's fun for them Sira!
It's cute to hear the flip side...hearing how a kid feels about her parents' trip!  I too would love grandchildren but I want my kids to be totally ready for them and they aren't yet so neither am I!  I had my kids young....I was 23 when my oldest arrived so not super young...but I like the idea that my kids will be older than I was when they reproduce..more life experience first!  I hope your sister proves she's up for the house-sitting task!
