Re:
hi 7 how are you today?

Beautiful. I find God as what we can find and discover within ourselves. He is there for us, whether we attend church or just look up to him and spend our lives following his word. He is there for us. If we choose to follow his direction, he shall not fail us in the end. We must however believe and follow.

Re: I'm so glad your husband had this experience. Wiley and I are considering
Kabu, that's a great thing to do as a couple.  My Eddie-Ray and I also went on a marriage retreat together--it was great for our relationship.  They have engagement retreats as well--they are more about the marriage, but still, great ways to enrich the relationship.

I realized I had only given half an answer. I was so wrapped up in your husband's experience I neglected to say this is my way of continuing the mountaintop experience until the next retreat. I participate in an annual church retreat. I think his experience is vital to sustaining one for the year. sam

FYS, long time no see no saa
On the mountaintop looking. Great. No distinction of high or low can be made. It makes a difference from the level one looks

A a Quaker I practice silence and listen for God as a daily routine and it is the 'mountaintop' daily for me. It can't be explained but it must be experienced! sam

Re: Fantastic FYS!

Hi Sira...yes, the entire concept of prayer for some reason hinges solely on one line of Scripture where Christ states, "Ask and it shall be given..."  when read in context, it's very clear that Christ is talking about building a relationship with God.  It's a huge difference.

There are Renewals for just about every denomination of Christianity, and many of the programs have no problem if non-Catholics participate.  At every Renewal I've worked there has been at least one non-Catholic, and not just RCIA candidates, either. So you'll find that parish Renewal programs are very inclusive.

All of these stem from the Cursillo Movement, founded in 1943 in Mallorca, Spain.  You have to look for them in other denominations, as the Catholic Cursillo is what you'll find online if you google them.  Cursillo is more denominational, but just about every denomination offers a program similar, either called Cursillo or something like Road to Emmaus, Alive, etc.

I'm not a catholic, FineYoungSinger, but I think I might fit in anyway.

Fantastic FYS!

Sounds like a great way to really get in touch with a higher power, or even just the concept of a higher power! I especially like the part about prayer, and making it a form of communication, rather than an "ask and you shall receive" sort of exercise!

Is it only for Catholics, or are these events designed for multi-denominational mountain climbing?
