Hey- Great to hear from you. Wow...that's quite a list ya got there! So a 20 something kid didn't even know who the Fonz was? Sheesh!

I just realized how old I'm getting, because I really am forgetting them...
And, it's especially funny because I never have been an celebrity or autograph hound...I think I have Roy Rogers somewhere. Okay, started out with Smiley Burnette, Gene Autry's sidekick,........he fell asleep on our sofa when Daddy brought him home for supper...most people on here won't know who Gene Autry was, much less Smiley Burnette....then, in that same little house, Sandy Duncan was the the cousin of my best friend who lived next door...and, she visited all the time and eventually got a part in a dinner theater in Ft. Worth - of course, few on here would have any idea who Sandy Duncan was, either. Then, I had classes in college with Farrah Fawcett....and a few famous football players of the era. Then, my first husband played in a club...and in a band whose main players later became ZZ Top....so I knew Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, mainly Dusty fairly well "in the day"....and in that club I met pretty much every musician who traveled through town....and that's where the memory get's really hazy......I remember Frank Zappa really well.....and Donovan.....but, really, we were always so stoned and all the bands who came through Houston stopped in after their concerts, sat in on sets....so I met various members, whose names I can't remember of a lot of bands of the late 60's-early 70's.......funny side note.....Henry Winkler was on the plane coming home from my cruise two days ago, and the 20-something kid sitting next to me had no clue who he was......so much for fame. (sorry for the long comment....I mainly wrote it to jog my memory and I'm copy/pasting in an email to my daughter 'cause she's been asking me to tell her "who"....)

Re: Sir Strat,
Jimmy Buffet is da bomb! He's like, Mr. Cool. Doesn't matter how old he gets....kinda like Jack Nicholson.
Oh, and yeah, Walter Payton was a huge loss. He lived pretty close to where I grew up. Not close enough to where we trick or treated at his house, but close enough to be around our neighborhood!

Cool!
I've written about the time I hung out and drank a bottle of wine with Jimmy Buffett -- I've also left Eric Johnson hanging on hold on the phone for fifteen minutes, although I didn't know that at the time. He was cool about it; I was horrified.
Walter Payton was a great person, period. Real class. What a loss!

Re: ginnieb,
Well, that must have been really cool. He does a lot of voice-over work now, too. He played a great character! Oh, and the Elaine thing, I'll take that as a compliment!!

Spitfire, I'd love to spend an afternoon chit-chatting with Lena Horne. She is a fascinating lady. I can't remember ever meeting up with a celebrity in person. One wouldn't forget a thing like that, would they?

Re: HolyG,
Ya know, Temple has met a shit load of famous peeps! She's got a few pics, too. Now that I think of it, I was so stupid not to get any pics with Oprah. I have tried to find how to get a copy of the archived shows from way long ago, but I haven't been successful. All I know is that it was in 1987. Oh well.

Re: Holy crap, ginnieb!!!!
You had a drink with Paul Newman? How totally cool!! Oh, and which boss of Elaine's did ya meet? Mr. Peterman? Mr. Pitt?

I have a personal "thing" with "Elaine" cause I've been told way too many times that I remind people of her. Hmmmmm

Oprah! Cool! I want to know more!!!!!
Do tell!! If anyone asked me who I'd love to meet it was always the same person...Paul Newman. About 4 years ago I met him...had a drink with him...sat beside him at dinner...woohoo..it was awesome!! He's such a funny, smart, super cool guy. A few months ago I was at a dinner gala thingy and walked past Hugh Grant twice and I'm like "as if I just walked past HG!" Also there was Huey Lewis who smiled right in my face..haha...and several other stars...Kyle McLaughlan, Elaine's boss on Seinfeld..John O'Hurley...nice hair and gorgeous wife! But Paul was my all time fav...he's sooo cute...even in his 80s! Lena Horne is cute too!

I
think my new computer's printer doubles as a scanner. If so I can scan in a picture of me with Lords of the New Church. I can't find the one of me with The Alarm. I was never much into pictures of myself!

I've met so many I can't remember them all, and they've all been a long time ago. But Mick Jones from The Clash at a clothing store, Evan Dando from the Lemonheads at K-Mart, Blythe Danner at brunch, various hockey players...Tons of bands in the 80s, and some actors at the USA Film Festival, but I was TRYING to meet them!
