Re: Sira

Mac,

Yes, our government is special. As in "should have to wear a padded helmet at all times" kind of special. "Rides the short bus" special. I have a lot more, but I'm sure you get the general idea

I would have been terrified to leave the country under such uncertain terms! I'm assuming they did let you back in, which is excellent! I, for one, am proud to share my lovely country with the likes of you!

Thanks for reading

Sira
I've always known that governments are slow, but this takes the biscuit.  It reminds me of the time I first came over here; I waited for my immigration papers for months and finally got in touch.  They had forgotten all about me.  BUT, to prove I really was living in Canada, I had to leave and re-enter.  That was worrisome - what if they didn't let me back in?

Re: Clearly

Hahaha Azur! Apparently not! Perhaps I should send them a copy of the books...

Thanks for reading

Re: Sometimes I think those stodgy bureaucrats don't come from Planet Earth.

A square grid planet would certainly explain a lot!

I remember all too well the frustration of trying to deal with college and university bureaucrats. It seemed like it was always less about learning, and more about making sure the forms were filled out properly.

Thanks for reading!

Re:

Thanks sam!

I think this little tale is going to go down in Sira's family history!

Clearly
there were no readers of Anne of Green Gables working in the govt. department at the time.

Sometimes I think those stodgy bureaucrats don't come from Planet Earth.
There must be a square grid of a planet somewhere that births folks with square, rigid minds that can handle only one method or process.  When I worked for a college at a front desk job, I saw daily examples of bureaucratic dug-in attitudes, a system that sent its clients (students) on a bureaucratic merry-go-round that frustrated them without end. Good you can laugh about it. :)

How cool to have the government confirm the family 'legacy' if you will. You tell a great story. I was hooked from the beginning!  sam
