- Go to Nursing In Public (or N.I.P)
Though I am not offended by someone nursing in public, I do think they should choose a more discrete place rather than just pulling it out at the table while we are trying to eat! It's all in the way it's done!
P.S. why should men get to walk in public without a shirt one, when we can't. I have been to nude beaches, and it's like a breath of fresh air walking in the sunshine, and feeling the awesome breeze off the ocean without clothes on for a change!!!! It's almost breath taking...

Go for it!! It is a natural act, and as in most cases quiets the screaming baby. Now farting is another story.........farting in public should be banned!!!

Nature of nurture...
I favor breast feeding, in public or in private. My wife breast fed, but she was very discreet when it came to doing it in public, she always threw a towel over my head. So I wouldn't peek, what were you thinking?

Americans get way too worked up over a little skin. Janet Jackson's .4 seconds of flash got more attention than years worth of murders on TV mysteries.

Re: jacenta
It's a scientifically provable fact that it's healthier (though you'll still hear arguments about THAT). Feeding them discreetly is the decent thing to do, but you can't force people to be more evolved. They have to evolve voluntarily :-)
Thank you very much for stopping in.

Re: EmmaCunnan
LOL too funny... yeah, some people get dressed in the dark. But, like I said, you can't legislate intelligence -- you think prisons are overcrowding now? And you can say only pretty people are allowed to expose themselves (though we are all thinking it).
Thanks for stopping by :-)

Re: Re: ZenMom
The fact is, it's just not a criminal act any way you look at it. You shouldn't have to smuggle your baby around like you're doing something shameful. You can bet that if guys could nurse their kids it would be an Olympic event. Farting competitions are already being negotiated for China, nevermind this!

Re: NewYorker_in_Sicily
See we're getting into how you personally feel about it, and we can't legislate based on subjective circumstances. Again, theoretically I'm with you, it should probably be done discreetly and without fanfare. But you can't pass a law that says "it's legal to breast-feed in public, so long as the mother takes precautions so that persons who may be offended in or around said public forum are not subjected to such a display." It's either legal or it isn't.
It's just as annoying to have a parent brag about their kid's grades or what college they're going to, but if being an annoying as*hole was against the law I'd have gotten the death penalty a long time ago.
Thanks for your contribution, NYIS.

I breastfed my babies
discreetly and they were naturally healthier because I did.

NIP TIP
About three months ago, I saw a friend of mine, for the first time after she had her baby. So of course I ran up to say hello and get a look at the little nipper. NIP is what I saw...basically two, equal sized bald heads intertwined, and there she stood, yapping away, in all her glory. I was shocked. I mean I am a card carrying naked person, but dang, not in the middle of a shopping center. As for the sweaty man-arys....ewww right there beside the muscle shirt hair epaulets with a matching head band, and mamal-toe tennis shorts. I tell you, there is just a lack of full-length mirrors in this country.

Re: I don't mind breast feeding in public
"mothers who flash it in everyone's face" - i've never seen one of these women....i can't believe we are still having conversations re: breastfeeding. we still have such a long way to go........to advance emotionally as a society. i breastfed all my children.......usually managed to be "discreet"......but, one time, in an attempt to soothe my child........i nursed while sitting on the bench of a bus stop right in front of wrigley field in chicago.

I don't mind breast feeding in public
but, however, it should be done discreetly. It's an intimate moment between mother and child and not something the whole word should take part in. I'm bothered by those mothers who flash it in everyone's face as if it were a trophy. I wonder if they feel that proud when the milk is regurgitated.

Re: sam444
I'm with you. Choosing to cover up and HAVING to cover up are two different things. In theory, I agree with you about the sloppy man-boobs, but in practice there should be no discrimination. You are forgiven, and appreciated.

I breast fed my children and I believe it can be done discretely. I was never comfortable feeding in public and I would choose a quiet place always. The point is to get the baby fed. I think men who have sloppy 'boobs' should not be allowed to take their shirts off in public; I find that far worse than a hungry babe. Just sounding off, forgive me! sam

Re: SEEDLINGS
Thank you, and I agree. But then again, I'm a man, so my opinion is suspect on the mammary matter. The issue is open to the floor.
Thanks for the visit.

Cunni
What a tripy photo! Anyway, I'ts like the rape stats in France. Tits are always exposed, like legs so rape isn't an issue in France. However it is here in the states, because of all things we make a woman's breasts taboo!?

Women are givers of life, and they sustain life too and if moms can't feed their babes without running and hiding what kind of freaky ass society do we live in? If you can't stand the sight of a baby suckling at mother's breasts, don't friggin look!!!! As always great post
