well, the people lived all over this land before some crazy people drew lines in the sand right through

the middle of their families and farms and towns and houses. Those people wanted to just keep living as they had been, but could no longer do so, because of the lines drawn in the sand.

I'm an old fashioned thinker and I think in old fashioned ways, open borders and open movement, as they all used to go back and forth and now they can't go either way without risking death. Many are staying because we slammed their border line in the sand shut with big tall walls and guards and things and I am very disappointed.

Most don't want to stay as long as we are forcing them to stay. They used to stay for less time, preferring the land that they loved to our crazy land.  They would earn their year's wages in the summer months and then walk their money home to Mexico. They still do the jobs that we will not do. Now, we force them to choose or die. An opinionated and prejudiced old woman who has watched this all for centuries writes again.

From Bunny
I wrote about the same thing in the Bunny Blog in October. Here's a link to the comment.

I've been wondering the same thing lately...
My personal favorite is the legislation to allow the children of illegal immigrants to pay "in state" tuition to universities.  If one of my kids wants to attend college in the next state he has to pay "out of state" fees, but Hector and Julio's kids pay in state.  I should have reclaimed my Irish citizenship and entered the U.S. illegally, I would save a lot of money!
