Your poem, "All that is wrong today, struck a chord in my soul, especially with the line:" My parents still don't trust me".
I can tell you Dewdrop, it takes a long time to earn trust, and a lot of patience. I know that because I am a lot older than you,and an "always recovering" alcoholic who has been sober 35 years. You have talent, very obviously, stick with the writing, that seems to be your project and your mission.

You could always try reading the Bible again
...seriously, though, I love going to used bookshops and the library, unless of course I'm feeling lazy, in which case I sit around and look at catalogs or hunt for old friends in Google.
