I've worked in enough campaigns......
to understand the importance of having such gimmicks........any advance man would seize upon the opportunity to create such a "happening". The initial incident was probably real....after that the staff realized it really "humanized" the big "O"....and thus kept it in the routine.....not cynical...just realistic enough to understand the system.
I'm surprised he hasn't been wiping his nose more often...it got a nice round of applause...
