I have discovered only recently that we should love the faults too.

Another big thing that affecting how we feel about people are expectations. If we

recognize that we have them, and accept that, it is easier to see that the person has not

failed us but that we imposed the expectations. That said, there needs to be a clear understanding

of what is acceptable.

Given we get back what we give then it stand to reason that loving the people around us - with their flaws and all - will likely result in them loving us back regardless of our shortcomings.  It seems as though you've reached a good and peaceful place....
