Re: Well, Samantha,
I hope that means you approve and agree! But you should see below...my response to Wiley's comment. It's really a disappointment afterall!

Re: Thanks, Wiley-Pops,
I am just a bit disappointed cause I really thought all the efforts would pay off a bit better than they did. These new calling cards? Useless. New emoticons? More useless. It didn't put an end to what the point was to put an end to..spammer scammers. However, all the hype has seemed to put a halt (or at least slowed down the process) to these scammer bloggers. At least for now.

Hi ya sweetiepie. Good for you and your posts luv. I've found for a long time now that Blogit has changed tremendously and not for the better really.

It seems to be populated by religious nuts, or people that hate religion or are trying to start their own religion, or people trying to tear down the belief's of others, or it's all about poetry now.

Great to read you my friend

Re: SunnyB,
It's one thing when someone leaves comments quickly. It's another when they more than obviously go down the list of current blogs...all in a row....long or short...all topics....and leave a "" in each one...ya know, like, 14 or 15 in a row...all within about 3 minutes.

posted by SpitFire70 on February 26, 2008 at 8:51 PM | link to this | reply

While I think it may help in some cases, it may not be beneficial in all
cases.

Like in poetry for instance. When I am here and actively comment, I often read by category, and a lot of times, poetry is short, and I can go through many posts very quickly.

Also, if I'm feeling depressed, I tend to read and only leave emoticons, as I don't feel like being "social".  Well....I'm a social phobic anyway. lol.

Re: Ya know, CunningL,
I've noticed that, too. Why aren't you in the top 10 lately? You deserve it. :) ...catch that old school smiley?  hehe

Yeah, I'm glad somebody noticed.
The only thing I'm worried about is running out of excuses for why I'm not in the top 10 ;-)

(Notice how I use the old caveman-style pyrotechnics Smiley face?  Oh yeah, I'm old school.)

I kind of like this one, though.

Re: jacenta,

Thanks, my friend. Just as you stated that I stated, "A comment shouldn't be allowed to be made unless clicked through the post first," is exactly my point. You and TONS of others have never been suspected of scammer commenting. Of course, WE HAVE ALL simply left a  or a quick, "great post" etc. It is the obvious spammers that are SOOOOOO guilty of this practice and do not deserve the returned "courtesy" clicks.

Yes, my baby is doing great. She's getting big and just turned 6 whole months old. WOW. Her personality is coming out now, too. I hope your granddaughter will get to be held by her grandmamma real soon!!

SpitFire70

This is the 2nd  time I've clicked on your post and read it.  Lots of times I read, but I am not impelled to leave a comment.  At times I just don't have any comment I want to make, but at times I actually feel guilty for not leaving a written comment. In real life I tend to be more of a listener then a speaker and it carries on to my reading here on Blogit. Even today I  spent way too much time on attempting to leave a comment on a post I read twice in order to comprehend it the way I wanted to, but deleted it and left a Rose instead.    As you stated toward the end of your comment, I just moments ago suggested to my hubby just what you stated. A comment shouldn't be allowed to be made unless clicked through the post first.  Be assured SpitFire, I always read your post and I enjoy doing so!I definitely understand about the Scammers.

Moments earlier my hubby teased me cuz I had a cup of coffee in my left hand and a chip in the other with both eyes glued to the monitor reading your post again.  Hubby said,  "you really get into reading don't you?  It is like you are in your own little world."

I hope your precious little girl is doing well.  My newest grandbaby girl is doing fine.  She lives over 1000 miles away, so grandmother hasn't been able to hold her yet. But, my day will come.

 Take care, SpitFire70.

Re: Soul Builder,

You bring up some GREAT points. First of all, I too have left just a rose or something like, "nice post" here and there when I have nothing more to contribute. However, what this post of mine and the other few posts regarding this issue mean...did you read them? (Totally NOT being sarcastic.) I have clearly stated SEVERAL times WHAT a SPAMMER commentor IS.

There have been way too many times as to when people have gone to the comments section only to see the SAME blogger leaving a "" on at least 7 to 10 posts in a row...all within minutes..sometimes less than minutes within each one. Then, this blogger gets several returned "courtesy" clicks and winds up in the top 10. Okay, with that being explained again, let me explain that yes, you're right...the clicks are coming from somewhere but they are most likely coming from several newbies and others who THINK that the blogger has actually read them by leaving a "" so they return the click. So, it is NOT generated by reading and THAT is where they are coming from. It is unfair and dishonest. I'm sorry, but NO ONE (and I don't care how FAST anyone reads) can actually read that many blogs THAT fast. Trust me, I've clicked the blogs and some of them were pretty long. There is no way it is humanly possible. We have too many people way guilty of this and it is time it is STOPPED.

Lastly, I agree that the calling cards may not solve this problem because, yes, it seems as if it may just be as simple as leaving spamming "" or a "Great post" over and over again in posts. What needs to be done is to have it be impossible to leave ANY comment in a post unless it is ACTUALLY CLICKED ON. Now THAT would solve the problem all together, don't you think?

Re: TAPS,
Yes, but not only my suggestions and posts, but a handful of others, too. I think it is a great cause and I am glad it has been addressed! It's only fair.

Re: Tattered,
Um, Okay! Great!

posted by SpitFire70 on February 22, 2008 at 9:09 PM | link to this | reply

I came back to leave a comment I feel strongly about! While comments should be relevant, when I cannot think of another response, I leave a or 'nice' post, read or write. This doesn't mean that I haven't read! I read at a fast pace because of years of doing so. With many posts being less than 10 lines, it is easy for me to cover a lot of them. Am I a scammer? On some days, the blogs are alive with quality and I spend a lot of time reading. On other days, I  flit from blog to blog leaving a trail of flowers behind.

While I agree that there has been scamming of this sort, I do not think the measures will cure anything. People will leave calling cards now! My issue is that there are people in the top 10 who do not read enough to put them in the top 10 of COMMENTS but are always in the TOP 10 of blogs! The CLICKS are coming from somewhere. If it is not generated by reading, then from where????

I attempt to leave a thoughtful comment at each blog I read. I am amazed that some who don't read others work manage to stay in the top ten. I rarely see a comment from some and yet they flourish. I think it is fantastic that you have kept this matter in the forefront! sam

Re: Purple Mermaid,
Well, I do hope people notice AND take advantage of it. There are too many bloggers being scammed by spam commentors that ARE NOT reading their posts and then feeling obligated to return the "click."

Re: Whazzamatta, Shelly?
I know, I do agree. The emoticon thingies are not that great and some of them are repetitive...like we had the "gift"  then we got  a bigger gift?? The only other one I can possibly see being used would maybe be the . Like now...as far as the new emoticons thingies...Huh? But as far as the other couple of things to try and control the scammer commentor problem, yay. Let's see how it goes. At least they did SOMETHING. Hopefully it will help. Hope you feel better, mi amiga.

Well, to be honest with you...I'm glad they paid attention to the

comment problem.  Hopefully, the new feature will take care of that problem.  I think the calling cards should be able to be left IN the comment area, and I'm not too impressed with the new emoticons...they could have done better.  I mean, what do we need a scissor emoticon for???    I would have used it here but it's not working...on my end anyway.

It could be that I'm not in the greatest mood tonight either.     LOL
