I think there was a female country singer named Jean Shepherd.
The guy I mentioned is one of the great American humorists of the twentieth century. Pick up a copy of Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories and other Disasters.

He's probably best known as the author of the story that eventually was made into the movie "The Christmas Story" about the kid who wanted the Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.

Thanks Strat. I'll have to look up Jean Shephard. I thought she was a
60's country singer.

Some of my literary heroes, such as Jean Sheperd,
got their start publishing short stories in Playboy.

But, as you say, it all got pretty coarse in time. Too bad, but I suppose it's one of those lousy signs o the times.

Cool post, Wild Bill!

Match temperature requirements for goldfish and catfish

Maybe some Corydoras and snails?

(See, I managed to dodge the point yet again).

If you see a Playboy from about 1967 with a brunette and some red or orange sofa throw pillows...she taught jr high in my school.

Well shit, I wrote a nice long comment on this a couple of days ago and apparently my stupid computer was having issues. It's not here. Damn. I can't replicate it. At least I should be getting my new computer soon!

You sure brought back memories of my Dad--not the Playboy Magazines (If he had any, I never saw them.), but the fountain pens.  I always loved his fountain pens, which I was never allowed to touch and he had the most unique and beautiful handwriting.  I loved watching him fill it from the ink bottle.  I just had to try that once when he wasn't home and I turned over the ink bottle inside of his roll-top desk and ruined my dress trying to clean up the mess.
