I think the whole gay debate is based on the christain religion and other
religions that claim it is a sin, if religion did not condemn it no one would give it a second thought, it would be accepted as just another uniqueness in humans.

Anger is born of fear
Our society has portrayed homosexuality as an evil and perverted thing. Homo-phobia is based on fear of being one, not the gays themselves. It's quite sad, as there is plenty of hate in the world I see no reason to add to it by hating things that others cannot control.

that is a very young age to come out of the closet, the young man that shot him will be tried as an adult for murder and a hate crime, he can say good bye to his freedom

My experience
One day my brother asked me what I would do if I found out that someone was gay. We were both still in school at the time. Since we were programmed that to be gay is evil I responded by saying I would kill him. When I saw the pain in his eyes, my heart bled and I realized he must be gay. That changed my whole attitude to people who had a different sexual orientation to the accepted norms. I now know many gay people and they are all very nice people and if one of them told me he has a crush on me I would certainly take that as a compliment although I would still tell him that I am not that way inclined but are willing to be friends. Thanks Ouboet!
PS: "gay" is another word this stupid spellchecker doesn't have in its database!!! We should all complain about this.

I agree with you
Homosexuality, and sexuality in general, is something you are born with, but as you wise mother used to say, we are all God's children. The shooting I think, sadly, had more to do with peer pressure and confusion at that age than anything else, but it's also another sad chapter in anti-gay resentment.

I think there is such a thing as situational gay and that confuses things as well. My sister-in-law quite suddenly became gay after her husband passed away. There was wasn't any talk of it prior to his death, in fact her gay friends told her she was gay. Go figure! sam

its all in the genes
I agree one hundred percent, it's something that is born with ya. It's just that simple. To shoot someone because if it, is like shooting someone because they have different color hair. The shooter is the one with the problem. I feel for both sets of parents. jesse_jean
