lilane,
there are always conflicts between parents an offspring. What that teenager did had nothing to do with discipline, good or bad -it is a question of parents' being completely oblivious. How does a 14-year-old get his hands on a gun to begin with?

and I know kids like to be disciplined and I must say I was a lax parent when it came to the last child with discipline

its a sad state of affairs that these things can happen, especially in a normally quiet area.  Big cities have their problems with the gangster doing these kind of thngs even beating up teachers

I remember in my day

when I went to jr. HS (late 70s -early 80s) if school officials knew you were a troublemaker even far from school grounds you got suspended. Repeat offender? expelled. My God what has the world come to? Who's to blame? The parents? Society? TV?

Honestly, it may be drastic, but if there were a law that said that parents should face charges for these crimes, things like this wouldn't happen.

Sure is different these days lilane...Heck when I was in school the worst thing we thought of was how to stick the ex-lax in the brownies without getting caught....I honestly believe that we as a society are  responsible for such horrific events! I know the parents bare most of it too, but when the news and other TV programs sensationalize such things it comes back to a social issue...How sad~

Its crazy!
I went to a junior high and a high school that us kids had to worry about things like that... I believe if the government just left us parents alone on how to discipline our children and teach them respect rather than disrespect the world would be better off... but since we are not allowed to punish our children then how do they expect our children to become respectful adults...

What is wrong with our soceity today that children even think of such things

Lustorlove,
I guess it will take a murder or serious injury in order for the school to take appropriate measures. What a shame.

The one who allowed the individual to have the gun. Guns can be locked for everyone's safety. The perp needs to be held accountable as well. sam
