Re: SpitFire70

It amazes me to no end, how many people that have tried to save us all, do not possess even a marginal grasp of common courtesy. For me that is always their betrayal, if they don't have a grasp on the basics of human interaction, all we can add is a hearty "good luck with that one" when it comes to their messiah status. We must also balance this reality against the fact that online etiquette must be learned by some. We were newbies once ourselves.

Unfortunately the latter scenario is becoming more common, we have witnessed some rudeness recently that we as longtimers, had grown accustomed to not enduring. Thereby doubling its shock value when we are once again subjected to it. I'd bet that you went through most of these thought cycles yourself as you overcame your mild shock.

Re: gomedome,
Yeah and the funny thing is that it wasn't even this blogger! It was to a different blogger that I never mentioned by name or even by gender. This nasty commenter has been only been on Blogit for about 15 minutes! He claims to be a devout Christian, too. Hmmm

SpitFire70 - I stopped in and read the post and the comment exchange
I don't get it, what is so difficult about acquiescing to what is nothing more than a minor and reasonable request? Where the reasons in this instance are important to you, ultimately it is a much more basic consideration than that; do we not have the right to request how we would like to be addressed by others? I think we do.

Gome,
Just an FYI: I recommend taking anything our Blogit newbie, Vairocana states in a comment. He is obviously a very angry, unhappy, judgemental person. He left quite a doozy of a comment on one of my recent posts and told me to grow up and other personal insults. Yeah, it was all due to the fact that I didn't appreciate being called "SPIT" instead of Spitfire. I'm so immature. I should be tarred and feathered...obviously, so should you.

Xeno-x - insisting that the modern day versions of the bible in common use

are the word of God, has to fall into the category of willful ignorance.

At best, we have a loose assembly of notes derived from Hebrew and Greek that have had countless layers of interpretation extrapulated into traditional beliefs.

Vairocana - I'll have to put that one in my stupid questions file

"On who's side are you?  Hate or Love???"

How easily those who cannot bear the same criticisms they so willingly bestow upon others, crumble like month old cookies when the volley is returned. Your comments don't look like "love" to me. As for Zen; yes I have a basic understanding of the concept, having pondered Buddhism for some time awhile back.

I always recommend to someone who is obviously getting as upset as you are that they stop reading this blog. There are a lot of people on this site that you will find a rapport with, I'm apparently not one of those people but I'll try to get over my disappointment.

THE KING JAMES BIBLE WAS FOR KING JAMES

And it reeks of royalty.  When the words of the Hebrew and Greek posed a problem with their belief, they simply rewrote.

case in point:

Mar 16:2 And very early in the morning the first [day] of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun

I had been given Berry's Interlinear by a friend.  I read this passage with the Greek literallytranslated.  where we have "at the rising of the sun", the literal translation was "as the sun was setting".  Hmmm.  No Easter sunrise here.  The women were rushing to the tomb immediately after the Sabbath, at sundown.

But of course this disagrees with tradition.

And "Kingdom of Heaven" can be (I think) better rendered "spiritual realms".

They want Christ the King, to jive with their feudal perceptions.  When the New Tesament had an egalitarian message to it.  All would be equal, all would be kings, all would attain that priesthood previously reserved for the priests of the Temple.

But they want priests and a hierarchy, where the commoner cannot approach god but through them, and certain rules and rituals.

Yes, it is known that the Bible is written by interpreters, compiled, and canonized by people with an agenda.

If more people were to see the reality, everyone would benefit.

ANd I support you wholeheartedly in your efforts to bring some truth to light.  What your latest detractor here doesn't seem to realize that.

Re:
Have you got any idea what Zen is about?  It is a sad day for me.  I used to sit on your side of the fence and laugh about the stupid people who hold onto blind faith until Life itself woke me up.  I hope It will do the same for you

Re: Vairocana - why are you obsessed with an imaginary war?

I have been taking part in this war since childhood.  I have been threatened and physically and verbally abused by those who do not understand the teachings of Loving Kindness since childhood.  I am waging this war in mind right here and now!!!  So are you!!!  Get it!!!  It is not imaginary at all.

On who's side are you?  Hate or Love???

FineYoungSinger - my mother in law is a lot like that but with a nasty side
She is forever quoting bible passages, sometimes it seems she is incapable of normal speech. If you do not simply nod your head in full agreement with her, she loses it and becomes decidedly unholy.

Well, according to my Aunt Jehovah--my pet name for my Aunt who

lives to call me at work and give me special one-on-one bible study classes--The New World Translation is the most accurate version of the bible.  She further explained that this fact was on Jeapordy, which, of course, is all the proof anyone needs.  Certainly the first name that comes to my mind whenever I think of the bible is Alex Trabek.

sam444 -I don't really have a position on the validity of one bible version

over another.

Nor is there much to be gained by debating whether or not the bible contains the words of God. To a student of this history, the point becomes moot. An outline of the major bible revisions is found: HERE If nothing else it clearly demonstrates that the word of God has changed dramatically over the centuries.

ZenMom - the funniest part of comments such as the previous one is:

can you imagine the reaction if I left a similar sentiment about their blog posts as a comment?

I know what you mean about reacting to some of the things posted on this site. It boggles my mind that people are able to reconcile all they have learned from their modern day educations with irrational and primitive religious constructs. I don't know what to say to people who refer to evil for example, as a conscious life force capable of planning against mankind, or those who promote misinformation as fact and claim that anyone who would correct them is working for their imaginary devil.

If Blogit demonstrates one thing for us, it is that there is a cross section of archaic religious ideas permeating our societies at the grass root level.

Stop wasting your time with sentences prefaced with "if" or "we must" . . .

I do not use the KJV for my personal use but I have cited it because so many are 'attached' to it. I read the New American Standard Bible. You points are well taken and your speculation may be correct but I will always believe in God and His word.  sam

GD - Did you know "your life is slipping away". I guess that means my life is also slipping away since I agree w/ pretty much everything you write about. I can actually BREATHE when I read your posts, unlike so many "others", whom cause me to gasp........and shake my head, wondering how they hang on to their delusions regarding the bible and religion.

Why are you so obsessed with Christianity?
While you are ranting and raving over the Christians your life is slipping away every second.  Stop wasting your time and WAKE UP!!! to a much wider world than the little cocoon of complaints you have wrapped yourself in.
