Those watermelons reminded me of what my Dad used to do. He would place the tiny cucumbers in narrow necked-bottles so that each cucumber would practically fill the jars and there was no way they could be gotten out. Then he would fill any space left with pickle brine and tiny hot peppers and dill stuffed in. He made really good pickles and everyone knew it so when he gave his special pickle in a bottle as gifts, it would drive the recipient nuts trying to figure out how to get it out to eat.
