I had a aunt who was a health food nut but she died of cancer, my dad died of cancer, but my mom lived to be almost 91, which I feel it doesnt really matter if you abuse you body in moderate amounts you will do ok

I think it's a combination of both genes and lifestyle. On my mother's side of the family people lived into their late 90's (and my mother looks well under her age at 76). So although I probably have these longevity genes running through my vein, I rather doubt the martinis I enjoy, the rich sauces I cook, or the minimal amount of exercise I get are working in my favour.

And then you hear these awful stories of someone who has lived the purest of purest life and WHAM they are hit with the dreaded cancer. Maybe it's a crap shoot.

Well lilane I don't know about all my family genes but thus far I can say we don't live to a ripe old age though...

Everything we experience and do in some part is because of our
genetic makeup. It can't be eliminated from the equation. Any equation.

I really have not given it much thought. Most everyone before me drank themselves to death. I don't drink so I have no idea of any connection except I wasn't going to what I saw was happening. sam
