Re: KaBooM
I know Taps, i'm the same way, so I just take my good ol' time!  sometimes to the consternation of hubby who has a set time clock that says dinner needs to be NOW!

3 "birds" with one stone!

If you can cook with your kids, you're really accomplishing a lot! You're getting to spend some quality time with them, while taking care of the necessary task of making dinner, and you're teaching them some necessary life skills at the same time! Talk about multi-tasking

I used to make my school lunches in the evening, while mom was cleaning up the kitchen from dinner. We could chat while we worked, which was nice. And making the lunch the night before saved a lot of time in the morning!

KaBooM
I often watch those programs on the Food Chanel of TV that are about making 30-minute meals.  They do it all so simply and so easily.  Why can't I make a meal in 30 minutes--not even the same ones that they do?   Why does it take me so much longer?

Cooking is fun!

Unfortunately, my LSW and I have rather different ideas about food, so sometimes there's a traffic jam on the stove, lol...

So you guys too have been the victims of Chinese 'poisons'? We've had huge recalls of all kinds of products, particularly toys and fish, that were contaminated in various way! It's a scandal, and everyone I know is trying to avoid buying anything Chinese these days, although that's difficult to do...
