McCain played around with the idea......

of running in 2004 as Kerry's running mate........I can't believe so any fellow conservatives have forgotten this.....it's going to be real hard for me to vote for a man that many believed divulged  military information to the North Vietnamese in exchange for special treatment......voted against tax cuts, made deals with the LIBdems to stall GOP judicial appointments, favors wide open borders,  and love chumming up with Ted Kennedy.......
Hello???? If the NYTimes, Wash Post, LATimes, CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS think that McCain is the best GOP candidate....there's something really wrong with that!

Informative post, though it did teeter totter a bit...as most of us have probably done this election year.  I too was for Mitt in the beginning but then he waffled a bit to much for my liking and his stance on 'pro Choice' and 'Abortion' are different than mine. Mine are different then most because I believe the 'pro choice and abortion' are entirely two different subjects.

I agree with most of the ideas you expressed here, but I do not recognize John McCain as a Republican at all and certainly not a conservative.  Amnesty is just the most blatant example of his liberal inclinations; McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-New York Times ... could go on forever.  George W. did more damage to the Republican Party and conservatives than any president ever.  McCain will just finish the job.
At least if a Democrat is elected and runs the country into the ground they will take the blame, whereas if a Liberal with an "R" beside his name is at the controls things are obscured.  But it's all academic anyway, because there is no way John McCain stands a chance against Hillary or Obama.
