Yeah, Naut, but speed kills, especially when you're accelerating into the
well of a black hole.

Re: Nautikos
TAPS, you're absolutely right, it's a fascinating site, I visit there often, and I can highly recommend it to everyone, they have stunning photos...

Ciel, I just hope that our hearts are not as dark as the one found at the center of our galaxy...

Troosh

According to theory, mass can be compressed infintely, although physics only works up to Planck values, we know nothing of what goes on beyond that. (Although some physicists might dispute that.) It's so small, you couldn't possible see it even if you could peek into a black hole, which you of course you can't. As Gertrude Stein said, in a different context, 'There's nothing there, there...", lol.

And of course they're not 'escaping' into space, they are in space...

And nobody really knows what gravity is, we just know its effects. And nothing seems to be able to defy gravity but the so-called 'dark energy', and nobody knows what that is either, other than that it appears to have led to an ever accelerating rate of expansion of the Universe for the last 5 billion years or so...

I love reading about outer space and the galaxies.  One of my favorite internet sites is http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html and their daily photographs and information.

Kabu, it might come in handy! And I understand you can achieve pretty high velocities on your broom stick...

Naut,

Out here, the signs are more like...well, suggestions! If they say "maximum 100km/hour", we know they really mean 120.

Naut
The whole idea of the black hole kind of defies my logic.  I just can’t wrap my head around small masses so compressed that they can defy gravity and travel so fast that they escape into space.  Or when gravity’s crushing pressure finally wins and exhausts a star’s fuel and it eventually collapses and by definition becomes a black hole.  I can read, and read, and read about the theories behind black holes and it’s just one of those things that escapes me (perhaps at a rate of 3,000 miles an hour).

I love the magical galaxy we live in, the whole blinking universe too.
