sam444, Keep your publishing goals in mind at all times! When you start looking to publish your work it becomes a matter of smart business, time and money. I will be putting up a listing of other self-publishers I have looked at, in my next few posts.

Thanks for your comments

Re: I don't find your post long at all

NYr, Is it going to be a "travel book"? I have some listing resources that may be of help to you (I was doing one from Kodiak, AK). It behooves you to check out a whole group of the POD self publishers. Each of them have something to offer. I would also suggest you submit to the mainstream press as you prepare to self publish. You could be one of the lucky 4% and get picked up by a mainstream publisher. There will be a whole listing with pros and cons of self publishers coming up in my next few posts. It may save you some time in your own research. Good Luck on your endeavor.

I don't find your post long at all
in fact, I found it very informative. I'm putting together a city guidebook and want to print it. Knowing that I'll deal with more rejections than acceptances, I want to take the print-on-demand route. After having read what you wrote, I'll look into a few of them before I actually decide.

Excellent information. I got a bid from Vantage Pres in the past and it was $10,000. They seemed to be worth the invest although I declined.  I wanted to thank you for the time you put into the posts.  sam
