I accept the validity of your comments. However as to the dating of the Gospels, the stories were no doubt in the public domain in Palestinefrom the time of Jesus onwards.
I was an agnostic for years. Your standpoint on religious beliefs may be agnostic or atheist. (I am not too happy with atheism as while the existence of a god cannot be 'proved' scientifically, the non-existence of same cannot be proved either, which was my position as an agnostic.)

It has also been postulated that all this is fable, a mythologized
incident to lend a holy aura around the birthplace and time of Jesus' birth. Consider that the first of the four gospels wasn't written until at least three to four decades after the death of Jesus...
