How can music be allowed when prayers should be done in silence?

Thank you.  There really is no end to the silly ideas some people come up with in the name of their religious beliefs.

RSM there has issues, real serious issues. He hates me and everything about me just because I do not share his views and refuse to sit back while he spread some fairly outrageous and poorly thought out ideas. But I have learned to deal with it.

This goes beyond taking it literally and gets into claiming that you must also be cautious of what is NOT said in the Bible, which is where this whole idea stretches itself. So now you not only have to worry about following all the stated rules, but you then gotta figure out the rules that might be, even though they were never said. They don't try to keep it simple.

From what I have seen people really can find ways to make just about any claim they desire by how THEY decide to view the passages of the Bible.  I love the line from the Simpsons when Reverend Lovejoy ask Marge is she read the claiming that according to it we technically cannot go to the bathroom.  I bet you could find passages to help defend such a concept.

Whenever I run across these groups it does make me feel better about my beliefs.  These people really are not healthy for any religious cause.

RSM
I have never once claimed to know everything on that my title of Minister gave me nay greater knowledge than anyone else.  That was the point about me getting that title to begin with.

And yes it would be possible for me to post this information in the manner you asked about, but then why would I wish to do that?  I very often write posts here that are not degrading, but when I see something this silly and needing of such comments, I am not going to let it slide.  Besides, what is the point of posting links and talking about such topics if you are not going to give your honest view on it?  Of course you would never put up a post that was filled with degrading comments and insults at every turn. I really find it very amusing that you of all people are trying to lecture me on the level of insulting I use in my posts.  It is fairly obvious that the majority of what I write goes over your head and you only respond to those posts which you fell you can attack me in.  Seriously, go back and read all my posts here and see just how many have this attitude to them.

And no, I am not this way to everyone who disagree with me, just those who really show themselves to deserve such treatment.  As for the attacking issue, I am guessing you are referring to those believers who threatened me in public and that was just because I had mentioned to someone at the place that I did not believe in God.  I said nothing at all degrading during that incident.

And talk about showing hate.  Wow, you really are hating me now.  Just look at how you ended that mindless rant of yours.  I seriously cannot think of anyone I know who is as obviously full of hate as you.  Your comments to me and your posts here show that you embrace hate and try to promote it every chance you get.

This post was not hate filled, nor was it intolerant or even degrading really.  I pointed out one group's beliefs which I felt to be silly and I was honest about my opinions of those beliefs.  it is much more respect than you show people of differing beliefs in your posts.

As for me being a fake... A fake what?  I very much follow the idea of the ULC and I show respect for all beliefs.  There is a level of respect that is shown by being honest about how you views other's beliefs.  Yes, I think these people are nut-jobs and should not be taken seriously.  At no point would I tell them they are not allowed to follow their beliefs.  Of course according to them you are damned to Hell for embracing the idea of using musical instruments in church and are an equally corrupted sinner as I am.

It never ceases to amaze me how dumb people can be.
I couldn't even read the whole article, it was so stupid.  Great post, Kooka.

Kooka,
How many things can we name from ALL the Bibles that are contadictive as to how people interprate the words and messages? I think, like, almost all. I am sick and tired of people (bible thumpers, mostly) quoting the Bible(s) and taking every word literally instead of in metaphores or other.

Re: whysper

I agree with musical instruments being used in churches. I, too, think that some denominations are wrong on proclaiming musical instruments are somehow unholy.

I do not agree that you put so much trust in someone who does not uphold the values of his own church of which he is a minister.

thanks for pitchin in. Im sure Kooka can handle the religious loons. I am simply pointing out the error of any christian organization sighting such referances for a justification for excluding musical instruments in church.

as he did point out, the references in the bible are "pre" christianity. The new testament is the "new" stuff, old testament is the stuff borrowed from judeoism. Is that a word? If not, then I'm claiming it as an original addition to the americanism of the english language!

Ok, That's It!

So you have just learned that some Christians think that musical instruments should not be sued in church? Where have you been? I thought you knew everything? Afterall, you are a minister. This knowledge is as old as the hills.

Is it possible for to post interesting information, albeit this topic, without the usual "nut jobs" and your usual degrading comments? Are you this way about everyone in the world who disagrees with you about anything? No wonder you have people so-called attacking you.

This is a topic that I have known about since my youth. Some churches do believe this way. Every church I have been a member of has always used musical instruments. I am not concerned with their beliefs but I am concerned with someone who constantly degrades other peoples beliefs. Your statements and thoughts about people does not coincide with your ULC ministry. In other words, you are a fake! Go to the website that you provided about the ULC and you will see what I am talking about.

From the ULC website: "We offer our hand to you to show respect, wealth, power and influence in the world thorugh the power of heaven as you choose to believe. Your beliefs count in the ULC."

From just this one post of yours, you have proven that not only you are full of hate, narrow-minded and intolerant but also that your ministry credentials and the ULC is a fake! You have no character nor credentials at all.

utter bullcrap

Psalm 71:22

I will praise you with the harp
       for your faithfulness, O my God;
I will sing praise to you with the lyre,
       O Holy One of Israel.

 Praise the LORD with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

Psalm 81:2    Begin the music, strike the tambourine,
play the melodious harp and lyre.

Psalm 150:3  Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

you are painting with a broad brush my friend. Whatever 'christian" group is posting this info is in gross error of the scriptures. But I understand your sentiments. I hope thing are well with you Kooka.

Very cool.
I have little appreciation for organized religion, but I'm encouraged by spiritual people of all denominations.

I don't judge all Christians by the actions or words of extremists such as the ones who wrote that article.  I have known many Christians who are down to Earth and would never get caught up in such nonsense.  I have also known enough Christians who would read such an article and start to condemn any Church that used musical instruments in their worship.

For me this is just a good example of where blind, narrow minded religious ideas can take people.

I judge people on who they are and how they present themselves above all else.  Their religion is really meaningless to me unless it over shadows their true selves and keeps them from being who they truly are.

please don't judge all christians based on extremists
I know, christians can be goofy but the majority of them are ok people.
