there is nothing more interesting to me than history and this is a great
read. If we understand something about the people who are our ancestors, it's easier to understand more about ourselves. Just acknowledging that there is melancholia to fight and a sense of one's destiny can help one to cope with it.

My family tree is very mixed just in the parts I know.  There is also some mystery in the Cowl line, in that nobody quite knows where they came from.  The baptismal records for my ancestor Benjamin Cowl were in a church that was burned by the British during the Revolutionary War.  The Cowles family thinks we might be an offshoot of theirs but have nothing more than the supposition that ending letters were dropped off over time.
