Great post! Sometimes we do have to go out of our way just a bit to cultivate a friendship, and other times a friend will just fall in our lap so to speak. One of the teachers where I went to college and I are best friends, but I think that if we had met any other place we probably wouldn't be friends at all. She (on the other hand) thinks we would have become friends no matter where or how we had met. Really when we met all we had in common was the fact that our childhoods were much the same. She was so much more sophisticated than I that I sometimes still find it hard to befieve we are actually friends.
