DivineDiva has excellent advice for you there. I would also suggest having less salt in your diet since that only adds to water retention. PLus, drink more water to flush out any salt. Propping that leg up is your best bet. Congratulations btw!

Mia,
I only gave birth successfully once and the entire nine months was like living in a torture chamber with everything from 24-hour 'morning' sickness to gestational diabetes to full-blown toxemia at delivery. I would NOT mess with edema to any extent particularly if it is progressing up your leg!! I won't throw horror stories at you but I lost 60 pounds of water in six weeks following delivery. Extra water caused much distress for baby and I in delivery. See your doctor, get a glucose tolerance done and along with blood pressure monitoring, get information regarding toxemia...Please! (Start by drinking more water and eliminating salt altogether). If you're craving salt to any extent you may have a mineral deficiency.

try this
it might be that the baby is laying on one side more than the other and preventing fluid from coming back from your leg. Try laying on the opposite side and raising the swollen leg with pillows while you sleep (keep both legs elevated with a stool when you're sitting). How is your blood pressure? Your doctor will want to take a look at your leg so I'd check in with him/her.
