- Go to If You're Gonna Lead.....Shouldn't You Lead By Example???
In America, regardless of what we say, it may be difficult to truly adjust. I listened to an Italian author just a few days ago. Comparing the United Kingdom and the United States he intoned that the first words an American child is thought are " I am the greatest." The first word a United Kingdom child is thought is "Please". How then are you going to get the sacrifices you suggest? How are you going to change a culture?

Do you think our children will thank us - or blame us for getting the planet in such a shape in the first place?

Lustorlove,
I am not sure of their reason for being in on hard times, but you stated "your" case very well.

something should of been done long ago the same as smoking who wouldn't think breathing in smoke wouldn't be bad on you, but it was glamorous in Hollywood and people felt it was sexy to smoke. Why should we need to be warned, we should take it on by ourselves. People on welfare and in unemployment lines, because some are too lazy to be productive. I have been in both lines and to me it is humiliating but it help me get by some rough times. And most of America live beyond their means and don't think about the heat and electricity we are using.

Al Gore, the Nobel Prize winner, should be the first to start leading by example, and I am quite willing to help him. I know he wants to down-size, so I offer him my house, and I'll sacrifice myself and take over his spread...

But even ole Gore is not going to start sacrificing on that level, but why is it in particular American Humanity that is blamed?

I don't follow the political agendas of either side...there is such a thing
as earth changes, including ice caps melting, but I doubt it has anything to do with humans as much as it does with the earth going through its regular cycle which it has for years.
I do believe in conserving and helping the environment, more for our own protection and the protection of wildlife, not for a political agenda. I think common sense tells us all to take care of our homes, keep things clean, avoid using pesticides in our own gardens and etc., so when you think about the state in which you live, you want to cut down on pollution and harmful chemicals for your own safety and the safety of your family. People who abuse the environment are often people who don't give a damn about their own health, homes and anything...

I totally agree and they should find someother means of voicing their fears
other than flying around the world in aeroplanes that pollute so badly. Well said
