Oh, and I definitely (gosh, it took a while to spell it right) will look into your blog... Tomorrow. It's 2.12 here, and I better go and catch some sleep while I can.

Re: hagi
Oh, just flip back some pages and see the first six souls, and somewhere in the comments (at the 5th or 6th soul) I also have notes about the background of the concept. Basically, they're seven because I couldn't think of nine souls but 6 or 8 seemed too mundane numbers, you know, you just have to have the mysterious 7 for the count of souls :D

If you are wondering why 7th and not the 4th or 5th, then I was more or less working "from the bottom up", from the most solid, basic things to the most ephemeral things. And, of course, I started with the easiest ones. I'm a lazy person, ya know.

There is a magic to this that speaks to me, that revives memories, and I understand it...what is jarring my sober, rational, analytical nerve is this business about the 'seventhness' of this 'soul' - why is it the seventh? What is the significance of that?

I am currently doing a series called 'Naut on Religion'. You might like it, you might not, it's very analytical. It's not 'deep', but essentially a sociological interpretation, although not exclusively so. If you're interested, you should start at the beginning, because it will help explain why I say what I say about Islam at the moment...
