It seems to me we're paying a lot of taxes
to keep them/kick them out. I don't know whether it would be more the other way or not.

Jollyjeff, you can't expect a nation to NOT have rules regarding immigration.  People can't just come for the same reason a stranger can't just walk into your home and move in.  There needs to be regulation because our government doesn't have unlimited resources.  It all comes down to taxes, jollyjeff.  I, for one, do not appreciate paying taxes for those that choose to live here under the radar.

I'm glad they did fineyoungsinger
but I still don't understand why there have to be proper channels. Why can't people just come?

illegal immigration:

Look at the other side of this coin:  If a person wants to be in this country so bad, why DON'T they go through the proper channels and cross the borders legally?  It's not the "immigration" part with which we should be taking issue, but the "illegal" part.

My relatives went through proper channels to come to this country.

It is a touchy subject. My position, everyone in need should be helped to reach their goals.  sam

Of course it is racism. Your idea is one I have not heard of yet. It seems so nice and kind... and sadly this is probably why its been over looked
