I'm not reticent to cry in front of people except for the fact that it makes me look ugly.  My nose gets red and runs, my eyes get bloodshot and my face gets splotchy.  Also, it makes me feel physically wrung out.  I don't think, though, that it shows weakness.

I believe it is a healing process...
...which we all need at times.

Crying is a God given emotion, it is what it is and if anything it is a sign that you have a heart.

What a sad story.  When it comes to crying I have no hesitation about crying in front of my loved ones.  I think it makes us more human and those that see our pain can better understand that we're struggling with something and offer up a gentle, healing hug.  Otherwise, how would they ever know?

Keeping things inside or behind closed doors sends a horrible message to the mind. For me, crying is cleansing. One of my favorite verses is simply: Jesus wept.   sam

Yes, crying is sometimes a cure for our heart and soul. I`ve found it gives so much freedom when you just let your tears their way when they come, even if it`s in front of other people.

I understand what you are saying. I went through that and it took me years to go through all the grieving I had. Now if it is a crying subject I cry. I feel good about it. I can lay it aside once I have cried over it.
