Well said Neil and I hope others will see and be steered-by your comment! With this friend-she was turned 80 and so many things brought on by 'old age'-so it was not suicide although I know that she wanted to 'go'! God bless you and Shalom from chris.

Re: Chris, your writing always touches upon some aspect of life in a
Hello Ash--how very kind you are--thank you! Truly-I am not the best person to try to explain Haiku to anyone! The Haiku I use as my basic guidelines are the rule of -5-7-5.In the first line-using 5 syllables-is your main focus!ie-an occasion-a happening-a feeling etc-or something that catches your eye/heart/Soul.Then in the 2nd line-you continue a 'story' about it-using 7 syllables! In the 3rd-(last)-line-you create a 'twist'-almost an 'opposite'?-using the 5 syllables! I'm sure you know but I will mention all the same-some words are made of only 1 syllable-ie day-night-moon-sun etc.However--'Sunday'-= 2 syllables.'Tomorrow'= 3 Syllables. and so it goes on!The whole thing about Haiku-(in my humble opinion)-is like taking a photograph-a 'snapshot'-in words-to treasure. If you are further interested-there is a site on computer-just type in- Haiku- and it will be most informative! Hope this helps a wee bit!Haiku writing-is good fun! Very theraputic and enables self awareness and growth.God bless-Chris.

Chris, your writing always touches upon some aspect of life in a
humble / thoughtful sorta way, I love it and find it to be enhancing my own understanding. As most of the readers here know, I'm an engineer by profession, new to the world of poetry..still do not know what Haiku means..perhaps you could help refine my understanding of this fascinating branch of literature !
