Re: When we retire, we are split on the grandkids issue...
Maj, I'm with your better half on this one... My parents alway made sure they were so far away, the expense to visit them made any contact a hassle...

When we retire, we are split on the grandkids issue...
I say, live where they will have an adventure to visit us.
My far better half says, stay close to be a continual part of the mix.
(PS: with my grandmother, it was Knudsen's blackberry ice cream or cream of chicken soup with "lumpies" in it!)

Re: Cynthia
Azur, I fought against being a mother, but being a grandmother came easy;-) - but you can't have one without the other.

Oh Cynthia...
..what a fabulous touching post! You know I was thinking about you the other day...about your grandkids and wondering if you were up in Montreal or home for the holidays. How fabulous that you are able to have had/have all the many layers of life. How old are the grandkids now? Both girls right? I remember when your first was born. My daughters from Ontario and their boyfriends just left after three fun-filled days and our second celebration of christmas...hard to see them go...and we talked about their future children! I'm so ready! Glad you had fun!
