Luckily my apartment is too small to accommodate more than one person, however my son tells me that when he brings a girl home to his place and she's over stayed her time, he flicks her on the nose, winks his eye and says, 'you better be running along now.'
He says it works like a charm.

I'm like you...I think you just have to take steps, drop hints and clues.
It's not you being rude...they are the ones being rude...I have friend who come over with toddlers and they have actually broken stuff! There's been no attempt to pay me for these items and now I am avoidinf having them over.
