Things happen for a reason
at 40, I am already a grandma and about to be again. I had 3 1/2 months of being a full time mom of an infant when I had custody of my then 9 month old granddaughter. The body gets tired more quickly now than when I was a mother at 20

You talk about my courage but boy are you one gutsy lady. Your daughter
should think about your love for her and your bravery in keeping her raising her and loving her. Well done sweetie.

I always say she was born for a reason, since she was born the day after my dads birthday and she never saw her grandpa, he died when she was about 2 years old

Wow, echoing my life once again. I too became pregnant at a very late age...I thought I was unable to have children, for goodness sakes I had a grand child and had been care free with my new love (who later became my husband) Neither of us wanted children and so when I discovered that it wasn't the flue I was afflicted with, well I was confused oh so briefly and then I realized it was an act of God...and I became full of life literally. I lost that child...and now all these years later I look back and wonder as we all do about many things in life, 'what was that all about?' I'm glad things worked out the way they did for I am divorced from that man and wow-wee we just had two different ideas on just about everything...I can't imagine raising a child with him, but this has turned into my own post, so I shall just say, wow, I can really identify with this post.

When I was 15, my mom got pregnant at 43. She seemed too old for that to me and I was surprised to learn that mom and dad were still having sex at such an "advanced age". LOL. As it turned out, shortly after my little sister was born, my mom suffered a badly ruptured disc and could hardly walk, let alone carry around a baby. So, I practically raised her myself until I got married when she was five. I always felt like she was more my baby than my mom's. We are still very close.

I can imagine how difficult those days must have been for you. I certainly understand what you wrote about going crazy (letting loose) after your marriage ended. I did the same thing. However, I was 36 and was sure I didn't want more children so I had my tubes tied. When I met the man I am married to now, I was afraid to tell him I couldn't have more children. When I finally did tell him, he smiled and said he had had a vasectomy years earlier. That's how I knew we were meant for one another.
Life is strange.
