I wonder if the right way to think about this is to emphasize the distinction between belief and practice. People are free to believe whatever they want about religion, but they are not free to endanger their children's lives.
I understand that religious freedom includes practice ("exercise") as well as belief, but that cannot mean allowing people to cause the death of others, even their own children.

This has troubled me my entire life. I will never understand refusing medical to save child's life. It feels like legalized death. I don't know that this issue will every be resolved. {I like your writing style, it was easy to read and has the qualities of an outstanding composition}. sam
