Straightforward,
The "consumerist" aspect of campaigning is a function of television! Producing "slick" political ads cost money! We are left to isolate the candidate out of the "slick". Good luck!

...I am so enthusiastic about your comments because they showed that you have really listened to the debates and have weighed the candidacy of those involved. I, too, are pleased with what I have seen. I just hope it doesn't get nasty and mean again like they were before. And I hope they continue to debate on the issues and nothing else. So nice to see you again, my friend

B2008,
I must admit that Mr. Obama is beginning to look less "handled and novelty" than I first thought. He does seem to have a very positive outlook, without the bitterness towards the American political process that most politicians wollow. I am actually beginning to wish him well and hope he continues improve the debate.

Hi again Glen..yes, many including myself would be interested in the pros
& cons of a Hillary vs Barrack presidency..I for one is least interested in the politics of gender, color or such superficial attributes..but would really want to get a good feel as to what their real inner persona is, and how it would impact the US as well as the world at large..I know you're more than capable of carying an intelligent, informed, reasoned debate..which in my humble opinion is the only way to get others to honestly participate..which is what you are really seeking.. I hope..blessings - Ash Pradhan

I feel differently in that good and evil coexist at all times in humans. You can be good one second and evil the next. I don't believe times has anything to do with. Listen to Hilliary the other day swearing that she was going to lower the oil prices..hehehehehe., that was a psychotic statement I must say because she must think she is God, like she's going to tell the iraqis and arabs what to do. What she said was just a ploy to get people to vote for her no matter what. That was definitely an evil moment (and she has many I must say) outright. She was just lucky the opposition wasn't around her at the time. The people she was speaking to don't know what power she possesses. So what can they say?
No, Glennb, they will never be accepted because we shouldn't allow that to happen. We should make sure that woman does not WIN. She would sell her soul to get the presidency and our votes are the only thing we have right now to stop her. We need someone with more sould strategies, not wishy washy hoopla.

This may be the line of the week:
"Political affiliations may be more important to you but ask yourself: Where has it gotten the biggest and baddest ass kicker on the Planet? You still have to take your shoes off to get on a Plane!"
That is one of the most well-put statements I have read in awhile. Good work!

B2008,
You said a lot in your comment! However there is more good than evil in man/woman at alternating times in our lives! People are most prone to evil when there is no opposition. Right now the rhetorical "they" that you describe here has the support of the "speech filled" minority! "They" have center stage and they propagate the destruction of mankind and are prone to believe and accept that they will be spared.

Now you're talking with clarity and you're right. Television is not only an escape, it is a source of our way of life as it is today. And it is absolutely true that it is to our detriment and peril that it exist and that is because it has changed us as human beings. It tells us how to behave in "slight of hand" ways. Through commercials, we learn to be mean, spiteful, elusive, romantic, liars, cheaters, and untrustworthy individuals. Look at one stupid commercial, for instance, which advertises a shower fixture no less. You rush home to try and beat your spouse into this ideal shower. You act like a maniac by discarding your clothes outside in front of everybody even children. Your spouse beats you inside, however, and you get to the door cursing him like an angry (psychotic) person. Now what in heaven's name does that teach anybody? And guess what, our kids see this and act accordingly among themselves. Oh, how nice!
It's not specifically the TV itself that has placed the foundation of civilization at peril. It is the corporate america money mongers that have done that. Corporate american owns us, hook, line, and sinker. They tell us what to eat, drink, smoke, what to do, say, reveal, how to spend, earn, save, and how to prepare for death with their very own design death plots. They own every human being's life literally. They know every move you make, your eating habits, your likes and dislikes because they are BIG BROTHER don't you know! Everything in your house, everywhere you go, where you put your money, where you go to receive Jesus, how and if you can receive medical treatment, whatever that you require to survive and that is meaningful to your life functions. We have given up all that is truly good, our most ancient ways and traditions, and how we communicate with our families and friends. Even our ancestry is almost forgotten because we are too involved in corporate america's world.
Our constitution is just a word. And words have been so abused that you cannot recognize the abuse even. Bush has completely demolished the english language more than any president before him. Governments all over the world are at stress because all men are imperfect and should not be ruling other men. That's like my knowing you are a thief and giving you my money to put in the bank. Duh! If we know that men can be reduced to beasts because of their greed of power, money, fame, ideology, together with the inability to see beyond their own eyes, stubbornness to the truth, and loving to dissuade others through lies, how can we in good faith give our lives to men like this? It's because we have been brainwashed into doing so over time through our boob tubes. We have been systematically told how to live, how to fart, and how to vote by corporate america who owns our government. But many of us can't see for looking!
There isn't one human being in our government and other governments around the world who are not criminal in nature because they lie to the hilt about everything that is worth living for in order to keep their power. They will kill you if you become a threat to their power. They will drain you dry to keep you down and beholding to them. They are the beasts of mankind. We have lost our way because of them. We don't know what to do because of them. We don't know what to say because of them. We don't even know how to love our own families anymore because of them. And many of us have lost our souls because of them!
Being the imperfect man, we need a power that is pure, loving, and will work in our best interest to protect us to rule us. We cannot rule ourselves because of our imperfections and lusts. And those with no faith in some power other than man's, I believe are lost to having the answers to our survival. I have plenty of faith for me and others, but even I am without answers. I don't trust any man enough to put my faith in him. My faith is where it belongs and will stay there. I have to put up with this mess that corporate america has developed and I try to survive using my own common sense. I look at TV to keep aware of what the beasts are doing that particular day. If you don't know the beast, how can you fight the beast? They try to be your friends. With friends like them, you don't need any enemies.
Nothing in this world is sacred, and there's no place you can go to feel free, or to be free, and there's nothing you can say that will change anything. The one thing they cannot take from us is our HOPE, our FANTASIES, our DESIRES, our WILL TO LIVE, AND our LOVE for each other, no matter how much they try to change those, too:(
In other words, I don't have the answer. Nobody human does!
