- Go to Overcoming Fear
Best of luck to you! It's so easy to be ruled and stifled by fear - of rejection, of failure, of the past repeating itself, of judgment, etc., etc. I know I'm VERY guilty of this. Maybe I'll do better as well. Great post. :)

You know what...when they had me read the classics in middle and highschool
I didn't understand nor appreciate them. Now when I read them, it's like the light is on and I understand with such clarity. I think classics is wasted on the young and shouldn't be required in school. Students should read stuff relevant to them and their time, so they can be prepared for the world out there. great post!

Words of Wisdom
Came out of your grandfathers mouth. However, reading can be very rewarding. It can take you away, into a world of silence and as someone once said, only believe half of what you hear, and 1/3 of what you read.

A wonderful, insightful post. I agree 100% that most lives are dictated by fear...I have been one of those for far too long. And by the way, you and I must have had the same grandfather.

Exactly.
I suppose we all have a lot to be afraid of, if we allow ourselves that luxury. The trick is not to indulge.
I suppose it's another form of dieting...

Extremely well composed essay. I like your grandfather's advice. I need to apply it to my own! sam
